Muhammed Aziz Khan
Muhammed Aziz Khan, is the founder of Summit Industrial and Mercantile Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd. (SIMCL). Summit Group is recognized as the largest infrastructure group in Bangladesh employing over 2000 people with investments in the energy sector, ports, shipping and information technology.
Under the leadership of Muhammed Aziz Khan, Summit has set up the first Independent Power Plant of the country in 1998, Khulna Power Company Limited. Currently, Summit produces 550 megawatts of electricity and is by far the largest local independent power producer in the country. Another 1200 MW of electricity generation facility is under construction. Summit also set up the country's first private off-dock facility, Ocean Containers Limited, and is currently handling 35% of the country's export and 10% of the country's import volume.
Summit Power Limited, Summit Alliance Ports Limited, Ocean Containers Limited and Khulna Power Company Ltd. are subsidiaries of SIMCL and are currently listed in the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges with a combined market capitalization of more than Tk. 70 billions or US dollars 1 billion.
Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan was born in 1955. He is an MBA from the Institution of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.
Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan is married to Anjuman Aziz Khan and has three daughters, Ayesha, Adeeba and Azeeza.
Md. Farid Khan
Mr. Muhammad Farid Khan was born in July 1960 and completed his Bachelors in business from Dhaka University. He started his business career in 1980, working side by side with his brother Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan trading plastic compounds, fertilizer and other commodities. He played an integral role in establishing and developing Summit Industrial and Mercantile (Pvt.) Limited in 1985. Mr.Khan pioneered export of molasses and fertilizer from Bangladesh.
His key entrepreneurial skill and expertise focuses in the establishment and development of new and innovative projects. He was solely instrumental in setting up the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (“LPG”) project and storage tank terminal at Mongla under Khulna district. As Summit implemented the first Independent Power project (IPP) in Bangladesh, Mr. Khan took charge of Summit Power Limited as it's Vice Chairman in 2007 and established it's foundation. SPL is now publicly listed in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges and generates 336 MW of electricity for Bangladesh.
In 2010, Mr.Khan gave up his position as Vice Chairman of SPL and shifted his focus into attaining hi technology prospects that would digitalize Bangladesh and swift global connectivity. He took responsibility of Summit Communications Limited as it's Vice Chairman to strengthen Summit's role as a catalyst for the introduction of new and pioneering businesses in Bangladesh. Under his guidance, SCL spearheaded into that market by constructing an innovative and efficient optical fiber network architecture nationally. Mr.Khan intends to expand this connectivity beyond the borders of Bangladesh along with introducing other connectivity services nationally and globally.
Besides his interest in promoting hi technology business, Mr.Khan as Vice Chairman is directly involved with Summit Group in it's entirety, strategizing and mapping out future prospects especially in areas of infrastructure development and economic potential.
Mr.Khan is a member of Siraj Khaleda Trust and promotes education for underprivileged children in Bangladesh. He also sponsors several autistic children in the Society for Education of the Intellectually Disabled (SEID). Currently, he plays an active role in overseeing the construction and development of a low cost hospital that Summit hopes to donate by the end of 2011.

Md. Arif Al Islam
Managing Director and CEO
Md. Arif Al Islam, former Deputy CEO and CFO of Grameen Phone joined Summit Communications Limited as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. He is also one of the shareholders of the company. Mr. Islam is an FCCA by profession and has 21 years of experience in public practice and industry. He started his career as trainee auditor in public practice in UK in 1993 and over five years worked with couple of chartered accounting firms there. He gained a range of experience in audit, tax and consultancy services and became a senior auditor. He qualified in 1998. Then he joined KPMG, Bangladesh as a Senior Manager being responsible for a port-folio of clients for audit and consultancy services. Later he joined Grameen Phone, the largest cell phone operator in Bangladesh and contributed to the telecommunication industry for a decade. He finally held the position of Deputy CEO and CFO in Grameen Phone.
Among his many achievements, he played key role in setting the strategy and business plan of Grameen Phone since a very early stage, taking the company to public listing and achieving operational excellence through both due process and leadership development. In his career, he has attended many international executive training programs, as well as participating in management and technical trainings locally and internationally.
As CEO and MD of Summit Communications Ltd, he has ushered in a successful era of expansion both in terms of network architecture, license acquistion and revenue stream. Bolstered by a strong team of professionals, his leadership has been instrumental in bringing Summit Communications Ltd to where it is today.
Fadiah Khaleda Khan
Jafer Ummeed Khan
Mr. Jafer Ummeed Khan was born on 10th May 1957. After completing his studies in the United Kingdom, he joined Summit Group in 1987. He spearheaded the development & expansion of Summit Group, particularly of Summit Industrial & Mercantile Corporation (Pvt.) Limited and later of Summit Power Limited. Because of his contribution in the Power Sector, Mr. Jafer Ummeed Khan was also unanimously elected as the Vice-President of Bangladesh Energy Companies Association, which post Mr. Khan is holding till date.
Md. Latif Khan
Mr. Md. Latif Khan was born 1958 in Dhaka. He pursued BA in Public Administration at Dhaka University, and subsequently left for higher studies to the U.S. in 1981. There, he worked for over 15 years in the financial sector.
He was a stockbroker and a financial analyst at Prudential Insurance of America where he received numerous sales achievement awards. He also worked as a Financial Officer at Wells Fargo Bank in California. He returned to Bangladesh in 1997 and thereof joined Summit Group as the Managing Director of Summit Shipping Limited. Mr. Khan has established himself as a sound and dynamic businessman of the country.
Adeeba Aziz Khan
Adeeba Aziz Khan, Daughter of Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan was born on 14 June 1983. She has completed her Bar Vocational Course from Inns of Court school of Law, UK on 2005.
From July 2006 she worked with Dr. Kamal Hossain & Associates, Bangladesh as Pupil, after that she involved herself with Drew & Napier LLC, Singapore as an International Lawyer. Ms. Khan is holding the position of Director in several companies.
Faisal Karim Khan
Mr. Faisal Karim Khan, born on 29th July 1985 began his career with Summit Group with a training stint at Summit Power Limited and Summit Alliance Ports Limited.
From February 2008, Mr. Khan has engaged himself with Summit Alliance Ports Limited and Ocean Containers Limited as a member of the Board of Directors and as Deputy Managing Director. Thereafter, Mr. Khan increased his responsibility by taking up Directorship of Summit Industrial & Mercantile Corporation Pvt. Limited, Cosmopolitan Traders Limited, Summit Power Limited and Summit Communications Limited. Mr. Khan also represents Summit Group in the Board of Directors in National Housing Finance & Investment Limited. Mr. Khan is currently responsible for the Group’s interest in large infrastructure development business, specifically in the power sector. Recently, the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) appointed Mr. Khan as Co-Convener: Energy & Infrastructure Sector. Mr. Khan completed his high school from United World College of the Atlantic, UK, in 2004, and thereafter completed Mechanical Engineering with Business Finance degree from University College London (UCL) and London School of Economics (LSE) in 2007.
Azharul Hoque, FAC son of late advocate Md. Mozammel Hoque, is a Chartered Accountant, a Fellow member of ICAB. He also earned M.Com degree in Business Management with honours directly from Dhaka University. Mr. Hoque started his service carrier in the Summit Group from 1985.
During his long twenty five years of service, he worked in various capacities in different companies of the group and shouldered lot of responsibility in the area of Accounts, Finance, Taxation and Corporate & Legal affairs. His contribution in the development of present Summit Group is remarkable. Mr. Hoque presently is working as Director of various companies under Summit Group including the parent company Summit Industrial & Mercantile Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd.
Syed Fazlul Haque FCA
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Syed Fazlul Haque, started his career as Partner of A Qasem & Co., Chartered Accountants in mid 1971.
In April 1975 he moved to executive career by joining Biman Bangladesh Airlines, as its Controller of Accounts and since then his long varied career included increasingly higher positions in different local and multinational organizations. Leaving Biman in May 1978, Fazlul went to Libya to serve in Ammonia Plant, Benghazi for a short span of two years.
On return, Fazlul joined Burmah Eastern Limited (now Padma Oil Co. Ltd.) in January 1981 as Finance Manager & Company Secretary and was promoted as CEO of the Company in September 1991. Fazlul left Padma in January 1993 to join Glaxo Bangladesh as Finance Director where he was made Managing Director of the Company in August 1997. Fazlul served the company (subsequently renamed as GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh after merger with Smithkline Beecham in November 2000) until he retired on 31st December 2002.During the tenure of his long career, Fazlul served as committee member of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Foreign Chamber of Commerce & Industries and Bangladesh Employers Federation. Fazlul is married to Rebecca and they are blessed with one daughter and a son.
